About 4 months ago, I noticed this shop across from Siam Paragon. The sign read, "3D Printing" and I looked through the window and said to myself, "Yeah, I'd do that someday." Inside were tiny human figures standing on displays around the store.
That someday was about a week ago when I went back to the shop and placed an order for one Limited Edition "Me". I didn't prepare my wardrobe or hair, nor did I think about how I wanted to be preserved in resin. I just took a look around at the other figurines and then came up with the jumping pose that I have taken in other parts of the world.
I'm sure they all run around the store at night. |
This is the owner of the store. You can get a figurine made from 6cm up to 14 cm! 2.54 cm = 1 inch. Mine will be 9 cm., the second from the left. |
Here's the owner again, holding a business card. Each figurine is hand painted after it is printed in the 3D replicator. |
Here you can see my shorts and calves appearing on the screen as a technician scans them. I am being digitized right before my eyes, pixel by pixel. Kinda like Mike T.V. and the Wonkavision! |
My hands were raised up for about 4 minutes, then I had to rest them on my head because they felt like tree logs. Here they are scanning my butt. |
It takes about 15 to 30 days to complete the figurine. Mine may not be ready before I leave for L.A. at the end of June. If you would like to order a copy of "Me" for your own voodoo doll collection, let me know and I'll have them print one for you. I asked if they can do a life-size model, but the printer is not that large.
